The Pele Awards are an annual event organized by the AAF-Hawaii, the American Advertisting Federation, to recognize the best and brightest in advertising and design. It’s a grand affair with attendees dressing to the nines, and the AAF pulling out all the stops to put on a dazzling show.
This year was no exception with the event being themed upon a glitzy, nighttime talk show, a la Johnny Carson or Merv Griffin in their respective primes. JET Graphics had their work cut out for them, but they eagerly took the stage and stepped up to the mic.
The “Pele Show Live! With Jimmy Gold!” sign was the centerpiece of the stage which was decked out to look like a talk show set. It was constructed of dimensional lettering strung up with working electric lights, and an acrylic backing to support it all. JET Graphics also provided graphics and signage to carryout the theme throughout the ballroom. The effect, as the photos clearly show, were befitting of a glamorous night with (faux) celebrities.
Added Bonus: Matthew Heim, Chief Operating Brother for the HONBLUE family of companies (which includes JET Graphics and Electric Pencil), was awarded the Silver Medal for his 25 years of service with the AAF-Hawaii. It was a fun night, indeed.
Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners! See you next year!
